The tracks on Monsta’s newest EP have all the makings of radio hits, following the verse-chorus-verse song structure with an addition of catchy vocal hooks. The group is composed of producers Rocky and Rufio and vocalist Skaar. They aren’t your typical electronic musicians, as they tend to stay away from using samples and prefer instrument based productions. The EP consists of three original mixes, with all three tracks remixed by some of my favorite bass centered artists: Skrillex, Nero, Alvin Risk, Dillon Francis, and Kill Paris. “Holdin’ On” could be a huge radio hit and I think it is the best representation of Skaar’s talent. Because the EP was released off of Skrillex’s label OWSLA, he alongside Nero, remixed “Holdin’ On,” which has garnered our attention from a preview released earlier. The Dillon Francis and Kill Paris remix of “Where Did I Go” is another favorite of mine, which is rare for me because there aren’t too many tracks that I’ve liked when DF has collaborated with someone else.
