Summer Startin Beats

Hola sorry for the absence but today I’ve got four new real tight beats from all kinds of genres. I got the Proper Villains’ remix of Rihanna’s “Birthday Cake” with some sexy vocals from the lady and hard drops from the fellas. Then we got Archie and his sweet and smooth progressive house beats. He really is rising fast and I’m very excited everytime I see something new from him. Next up is a remix of Calvin Harris & Ne-Yo’s “Let’s Go” which adds a little extra something lacking from the original to really get you shaking. Finally there is a remix of the 90s song “My Own Worst Enemy” which if you know the song you should recognize the the progression the synths make. Enjoy.

Alex Metric – Ammunition EP

London’s own Alex Metric dropped a new EP last month entitled Ammunition. It’s a heavy hitting house machine with three great tracks, sure to to fire up any set or party. One thing though, I suggest you listen to this on loud speakers or don’t even fuck with it, computer speakers can’t do these tracks justice. “Rave Machine” was the track that really turned me on to this EP, but “Epichords” and “Anybody Else” are top notch tunes as well. Happy Cinco de Mayo guys.

Artist Spotlight: Mark Knight

Mark Knight is and has been one of the bigger names in house music, and he hasn’t showed any signs of slowing down recently, releasing Bullets Volume 2 on Toolroom Records with two huge tracks, “Alright” and “Together.” Both tracks have been enjoying a lengthy stay in the Beatport top 10. Mark Knight also put out a sweet remix of Laidback Luke & Wynter Gordon’s hit track “Speak Up” that I’m really digging. I’d also like give some shine to one of my all time favorite tracks–Mark Knights remix of “You’ve Got The Love.” Another jam that’s just fantastic is his remix of Tensake’s Coma Cat, one of the more catchy house songs in my opinion. Lastly is a tune from Bullets Volume 1 that I’ve been jamming to for almost two years now, “Devil Walking.” Enjoy.

Wick-it the Instigator – The Weathermaker EP

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, The Hive took a brief hiatus, while we were filling our heads with nectar-y knowledge. We will be sure to make up for it. Wick-it recently came out with a free mixtape and there was one song that grabbed my attention and has been my new go-to. “A Better Place” is by far one of my favorite songs Wick-it has produced so far. Its got a great feel to it and I can imagine Bassnectar playing it at one of his shows. Give the EP a listen and let us know what you think about it.

Mark Knight & Tiesto ft. Dino – Beautiful World (The Remixes)

With finals arriving and starting it has really put a dent in my time to be able to post music. I have so much new and music I had to pass up, and I promise I will post it all and then some once the summer starts. Back to the music.

Today we have some remixes of a familiar song that are amazing. I didn’t like the entire remix package, but if you want to hear them all here is the link Beatport. I posted the two I did like plus one extra. The remixes are by Laidback Luke, Michael Woods, and the extra remix is by Eddie Halliwell. Laidback Luke has been playing this remix in his sets for sometime now, and it’s one you shouldn’t pass up if you haven’t heard it already. He incorporates the essence of the original while also creating a huge big room/dutch house track meant for all sizes of audiences. Michael Wood’s remix might not be as familiar, but it is definitely on the same level. Michael Woods incorporate’s his signature style of progressive that also has plenty of techno elements. Lastly is a bonus remix by Eddie Halliwell that was featured on the recent multi artist album for Toolroom Records called Toolroom Knights. Eddie Halliwell gives us a massive minimal progressive house track that I totally love.

Justin Martin – Ghettos & Gardens EP

Justin Martin’s new Ghettos & Gardens EP has certainly lived up to it’s hype. Out on VonStroke’s dirtybird records, the new release has two great tracks in “Hood Rich” and “Ghettos & Gardens.” I’ve been bumping this release for the better part of two weeks and I finally have some time to unleash the beast on you guys. I would suggest playing these tracks on speakers. I love how Justin Martin has some gangsta influence in him that’s apparent in this EP and tracks like “Mr. Spock,” that samples Snoop Dogg & Pharrell. Enjoy.
