Mat Zo – Bipolar EP [Release]

Today is a massive day for dank tunes. Mat Zo’s highly anticipated EP is finally out today. Featuring four songs all differing in genre and style. He chose to take more of a progressive/electro route rather than his normal trance and progressive. We’ve already posted “Bipolar” and if you remember it then you know how freaking funky it can be. The other three I’m not too familiar with but after my first listen they all were on par with Mat Zo’s quality. The next song, “Ring On It” has some awesome spacey synths. Progressive in nature this tune is slow yet majestic. “It’s Yours” is somewhat similar to the last one with it’s housey feel and progressive build. This track has one of the longest, yet amazing, build ups I’ve heard. Lastly we have “Yoyo Ma” and it differs from all the other tracks on this EP. Like most of Mat Zo’s song it has an incredibly intricate build that is beyond funky. Once you make it to the drop it has a funky Daft Punk-esque melody and bassline.

Gareth Emery – Concrete Angels (Original Mix) + Unreleased Remix

I don’t think I will be able to express how much I LOVE this tune. Definitely my favorite track I have heard this year. If you haven’t heard the preview from awhile ago, then I assure you that you’re in for the treat of your life. It has the most beautiful vocals I’ve heard this year, and definitely up there with my all time favorites. Gareth Emery is a genious as he makes the most amazingly serene songs. This starts off just like that then a little after 3:30 you’ll hear the most amazing melody in the world, in my opinion of course. You got to get this if you’re a fan of progressive/trance. Also check out the John O’Callaghan remix out March 13th. Gareth said he immediately fell in love with this track, but if you’re not really into trance you probably won’t like it.

Zedd ft. Heather Bright – Stars Come Out (Remixes)

Yes, yes, and yes! I didn’t even know the remixes were coming out today. We all should be familiar with Zedd’s track, “Stars Come Out“. It was one of the biggest tunes during Electric Zoo and John Dahlback’s remix has had a LQ clip since then and nothing better. The First remix is a little nuts as it starts off with heavy kick drums and then into a circus like drop. It really almost has a scratchy watery sound that I find awesome. Next is probably the most hyped remix and its by Tim Mason. It is a purely progressive anthem that uses the vocals from the original perfectly. The next remix is one by Datsik and I had no clue he was one of the remixers for these releases. I love Datsik live but some of his tunes can get a little excessive, this just happens to be an exception. Staying closer to the original than the others Datsik makes this into an amazingly danceable dubstep chune. Lastly, but absolutely not the least is Lazy Rich’s remix. I was once again blown away by the quality of this track. Lazy Rich can sometimes take complextro to an excessive level, but this chune is amazing. Probably my favorite remix as he completely changes the track into a absolute banging chune.

Skrillex – My Good Bye (Original Mix)

Skrillex took home three out of five Grammy nominations last night and to show his appreciation for his fans he released a new track. It only stands at 2:22, but its something different from the artist. Definitely less intense than his other songs and it has more of a progressive feel to it with a draw back from the chopped up vocals we’re use to. And even though the song is titled “My Good Bye,” he shows no signs of stopping as he’s got 320 shows for this year and a slew of songs yet to be released.

Jakwob – Electrify (feat. Jetta)

First things first, we posted the story on our Facebook page, but I’d still like to say congratulations to Skrillex for taking home 3 out of the 4 Grammys that he was nominated for. Unbelievable.

Now then, London producer Jakwob‘s newest single “Electrify” is an excellent track, due to come out on Feb. 26th accompanied by a slew of remixes. Jakwob has featured in and released a tight new visual for this track to get some following before it comes out. Also, don’t miss the “Jakwob VIP mix” for this tune, it’s a great new take on the track.

Artist Spotlight: Funkagenda

Funkagenda is a British producer who has been producing for a while now and has earned his stripes in the game. Funkagenda started Funk Farm records, you might remember that he has collaborated a lot with Mark Knight, and he played on the Meowingtons Hax tour with Deadmau5. You surely can’t forget Funkagenda and Adam K‘s club hit “Drift,” it’s one of my all time favorites and I’m throwing it in. Funkagenda has been showing his production skill lately, dipping into other genres to pull influence from. For example, his new remix of “Buzz Killington” has a dubstep feel to it, while his remix of “Must Be The Feeling” is more progressive. They are both great tracks. He makes great music no matter what style he is going with. Check him out.
