Daft Punk – Get Lucky

Get Lucky!

The hype and buildup of Daft Punk’s single “Get Lucky”, found on their upcoming album Random Access Memories has finally come to an end after a full high quality version of the song was released. And we can’t stress the words “full” and “high quality” enough, after having listened to the brief preview of the single (which premiered on SNL) and watching the music video on the big screen during the first weekend of Coachella earlier this month. The single features Nile Rodgers on guitar and hip hop sensation Pharrell Williams with vocals. And now that the full high-quality version is out there, get ready for a ton of remixes!

The french duo had the chance to perform a self-review of their upcoming album, and based from what has been said, Random Access Memories may be one for the record books. Various guest appearances on the album include Julian Casablancas from The Strokes, Panda Bear from Animal Collective, Paul Williams, DJ Falcon and Todd Edwards. So mark your calendars if you haven’t done so by now for the album release on May 21. T-minus one month and counting…

Kris Menace feat. Black Hills – Waiting For You (Oliver Remix)

Author:

Oliver_WaitingForYou

Oliver channels dark tones in their new remix of Kris Menace’s “Waiting For You.” While listening to the remix I could not stop thinking that it belongs in the opening sequence of the movie “Drive.” This is their second release since the Mechanical EP and is a bit darker than their past releases when you compare it to tracks like “MYB”, but is great nonetheless. Goldroom – Only You Can Show Me (The Knocks Remix)

Author:

Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Patterson, known as The Knocks, are producers from New York City who bring class and style to the EDM scene, producing some of the finest Nu Disco out there today. What’s there to say about these music-loving roomies? Well, lets see. For one, their single “The Feeling” made its way into the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Teaser. They’ve been putting together amazing sets all year, whether it be their sold out live performance at 9:30 club in Washington DC earlier in January or playing Electro Beach in March. Artists such as Goldroom, Alex Metric and Treasure Fingers have done sets for their LiveStream channel HeavyRoc TV. Their debut album is coming out this summer. And the list goes on and on, but from what we can see, it’s been nothing but success for everything The Knocks have done this year so far.

The Knocks released their remix for Goldroom’s single “Only You Can Show Me” earlier this week. Also, look forward to a release of their new track “Modern Hearts” coming out next week. Did I mention they released a music video trailer to the song as well?

So watch out for The Knocks as the year progresses. In addition to their new album scheduled to release this summer, they will play at The Veld Music Festival in Toronto on August 4th.

Alex Metric – Ammunition Pt. 3 EP

Author:

Alex Metric is back on OWSLA, bringing the heat on his brand new Ammunition Pt. 3. Tracks off this release, as well those off his previous releases saw heavy rotation in Miami music week sets. The 4-track EP does not disappoint as he hits many different styles, showing incredible versatility. “Ilium” is Metric’s collaboration with Mark Yardley, and he went on to compare it to The Chemical Brothers, describing it as an “emotional, melodic, big moment record.” Moving on, “Want Ya” is another standout track–an upbeat, vocal driven combination of house and electro elements that is sure bring a crowd to insanity. “Rave Weapon 2″ has a dark techno/garage vibe that seems well suited for late nights in sweaty clubs. Lastly, “Scandalism” has a nu disco vibe while still bringing the electro flare that Alex Metric is best known for. This EP is out today, so stream the EP below then head over to Beatport to pick it up.

Fire Flowerz - One Night Love Affair

Luca D’Angelo and Matteo Soru, collectively known as Fire Flowerz, is a duo from Rome putting together upbeat Disco House remixes and singles that makes people wanting to travel back in time to the disco era, put some roller skates on, and dance the night away. They released their Polar EP earlier this year and continue to add more to the disco scene with their release last week of “One Night Love Affair.”

Fire Flowerz gained early influence from fidget house artists such as The Bloody Beetroots and Congorock, all of whom come from Italy. They slowly transitioned to produce primarily Disco House, but display nu disco and fidget house in their style as well.

[EP Release] Oliver – Mechanical

Author:

Oliver is slowly but surely reinventing the dance genre by combining their fondness for 80′s electro pop sounds with funky bass notes that creates a unique style and continues to impress us in today’s release of the Mechanical EP off of Fools Gold Records. We’ve done a couple features on the duo in the past, so if the name sounds familiar check out other releases like the Dirty Talk EP.

The four track EP hits all the right moods and I think this is the best representation of their versatility. The EP starts out with “MYB,” which seems to be the funkiest track of them all. A sampler was put up on their Soundcloud about a month ago and it was enough to have everyone, including myself, eagerly waiting for this release. “Night Is On My Mind” is a slower track, but still has a chance to hit some high synths accompanied with a darker melody. The third track, “Control,” best represents Oliver’s signature style, and while they like to sway away from this at times, it is great that they went back to their roots. “Mechanical” is by far the best all around track on the EP and is just filled with so much goodness it is hard to explain. The song does not hit hard like “MYB,” but gets the 80′s electro pop mood just right. You can purchase the Mechanical EP for an easy $3.99 at iTunes below:
